Abstract:
Traditionally the role of IT in the sciences has been confined to computational modeling. This is quickly changing. Today IT is iinfluencing all parts of the scientific process: from persisting real-world and simulated data, data mining and algorithms, through iinterpretation, insight and publishing. It is not an understatement to say that every major scientific discipline, from biology to geophysics, is being fundamentally transformed by IT. In his talk, Mr. Craig Mundie will outline how Technical Computing (i.e. computing in the sciences) will reduce the time to insight for scientists and engineers alike.
